good morning everyone.

not trying to force any of you to tell your ages, but how many of you were around durning the 1975 scandle?

did you believe the world would really end?

I sure did believe it. ; I spent my entire 6th and 7th grade years trying to get "good enough" to get baptized, but my Mother wouldn't let me because she said I wasn't mature enough. ; I was deathly afraid of being struck down in the fall of 75. ; After that, I wasn't as worried about it. ; But I did see brothers and sisters give up their whole lifestyles and move to "where the need was greater" ... losing their houses, jobs, businesses, etc. ; I can't believe the WT covers over and blames it on the mistaken notions of the rank and file.</P>

Human Compassion

i can't help but wonder if it gets lost somewhere in cyberspace.

there are a couple of threads that are active at this time where the original poster did or said something deemed inappropriate....this was pointed out to them...threads locked or the poster retracted what they said...it should be over right?

but nooooo some people continue to kick that poster over and over and over.....with their mocking and cruel comments.

What's The Nicest Thing Anybody's Done For You?

did a person ever do something that was so thoughtful, that you were overwhelmed by it?

Before the Internet was the world wide web, back in 1994.. or so.. I joined a mailing list called PHILIA. It was a mailing list of former XJW's. I had been out for 11 years or so. The joining was just on a whim. I had never really thought about it at that point.. I just figured that part of my life was OVER. But I joined to join in the conversation and companionship. Talking to them, I realized that I had never dealt with alot of stuff: feelings bout when I was a JW. All that stuff came to a head. In 1995, I tried to commit suicide by slicing my wrists. I was put in the hospital. The reason that I did this is because I had secretly all those years from 1981 to 1994 harbored the belief that this religion was the TRUE one. When I discovered tat it was all wrong.. I got a feeling like: This is it. Nothings worth living for and I tried tokill myself. The persons that helped through this particularly bad point in my life was all my friends from Philia... and that's the most important and special thing anyone did. One of those special persons was Kent Steinhaug, and his wife. He was on the list.. and he and the others sent me a beautiful bouquet of spring flowers and a note wishing for my best.. I'll never forget their kindness and love.

everone is in confusion

i joined this site last week hoping to meet people that would steer me back to the organization.

instead the people i have talked to her are all trying to tell me too see the light and get out of the organization.

in my opinion, not that it matters, i really think that if a person had the truth deeply ingrained in them, they would never leave the truth.

I have been out of the JWs about 20 years. For me, it happened when I was nine years old. I read Darwyn's book "Survival of the Fittest" <which I borrowed from the KH library>; and I was forced to assume leadership and care of my four brothers when I was only 9 years old while my Mother went out in service. For me, believing in God was always easy.. it was the RULES accompanying it, described by various churches, that made me sour on it. It also made me crazy with chaos. I finally just decided to visit different churches and take the best out of all of them.. and to stay where I felt most comfortable and cozy. For me, I fit best with the Baptists, and that is where I have been since. I think all religions are a key to God, but the place you will FIND God is in your heart after you read the Bible.

You have done a great service for all of the JWs leaving and already out over the decade. You've endured a great deal over the years, criticisms, raids, abuse. It's about time you took a break and used that time to enjoy! I'll never be able to thank you for how you helped me those many years ago when I was at my lowest and you and all the people on philia helped me so greatly. Nothing can ever erase that bit of kindness from my memory.. it meant so much. Good luck to you, my friend, and I'll be seeing you.

The Night the Elders called me.

left the org approx.

one month ago, so i'm freshly out and still working my way through the depression of losing my three best friends... but anyway, not important, what i was wondering was if any of you got this line from the elders the night you went to meet with them... so here's my story, take it or leave it.. i'm a homosexual, i've known since i was young, not raised in "the truth" but converted when i was seventeen, four years ago... anyway, i suppressed it, etc, until i decided that i wanted to leave the org.

I am glad that I got to read your post. In this place you will find lots of friends that share your confusion, anger, and pain. I'm sorry that you had such a bad time with the elders calling you names, but please know that they are very misguided and, like you, they were/are brainwashed. One day soon, perhaps, they too will see the error of their choices. I am just glad you are with us. I am sorry to hear of the loss of your friends.. that can really hurt. I will finally be happy when people can *all* put aside their differences and realize we are all just human and we have emotions in common. Where Did Those 29 Years Go?

we're off to the "flute de paris" for an evening of wine and good food in a top restaurant in wsm.

i know alot of people don't like beer, but i have been drinking beer since i was 7 yrs old.

i love the stuff!!!.

i was drinking bud light but my bf drinks dark beer (which i hated), but from kissing him for more than a yr now.

Canadian beers are my favorites... but can't afford them too often. But in cheap, whino beers I like Keystone. Hehhehhe...
